This morning, Alicia and I volunteered to help Donna photograph seven of their drops at a local (i.e. thirty miles North of here) high school, which miraculously has a fly system. On our way up there, we had to stop for pictures, and this was the first frame:
And this one (might be hard to see) is the ripples from a fish surfacing in the glassy water:
Here's a few of the drops that we photographed:
After that Alicia, Jen and I headed down to a neighbor's pond to continue our tree-drawing assignment. We got a little sidetracked by a rowboat:
I jokingly asked if they want to go for a ride in the half-sunken and fairly mucky rowboat. They both agreed without flinching, so we had a little cleaning out to do. We enjoyed rowing around the pond for a while and managed not to sink.
After that I couldn't help but walk around and take some pictures. And then it was back to our task of drawing. I'll post my tree drawings when they're completed. So far it's slow-going.
This last one was really neat in person. The light lasted like this for about 5 minutes and it was gone, but in that short window of time it was absolutely gorgeous. I like the bright blue against the green background.
So...still no job. I applied to Walmart, Subway, Radio Shack, Family Dollar, Blockbuster, several online, etc, but no dice. Nobody in the house has managed to find anything yet...which is nice because we can all commiserate together, and we are thoroughly enjoying hanging out and getting to know each other in the evenings. But I think we're going to start hurting soon if something doesn't change!
Other than that, there's not much news. This coming week is our foliage seminar, so I'm really looking forward to that. I got new spark plugs for my car (Bret told me this is likely the cause of the current problems, knock on wood), so I'll install them tomorrow. But I guess that's all for now!
Thanks to everyone that is reading, commenting, etc on here...I'm really enjoying writing the blog. It helps me feel a little more connected to home. Today I'm feeling the homesickness a little more keenly. Don't worry, though, I'm not in a funk...just missing those that I love :)
