After an incredibly long break from blogging, I figure it's time to jump back in and update again. I plan on updating more often now that school is about to start. But first, some catching up to do...
An update from the previous post: I sold my Volkswagen (using the money to pay off debt, etc) and bought another, considerably cheaper car:
It's a 94 Volvo 850 turbo wagon. Not as zippy as my Volkswagen was, but still does the job. Plus, it will allow me to carry all of my belongings to New York. And it seems to work perfectly, so no complaints there!
I've also been busy working on the summer stock program for Lake Dillon Theatre (pics to be added to my portfolio soon), painting for Evita, and also illustrating the cover for a children's book (my lips are sealed, as they're currently still trying to get it published).
And besides that, I've been busy getting ready for the move...packing, storing, sorting, selling, donating and even trashing my unneeded belongings. It's amazing how little I can really get by with when required to. Everything that I'll need for the next two years has to fit into my new wagon, and believe it or not, I think I'll have room to spare. Now I'm thinking, "how many friends and family members can I stick in the back and take along with me...?"
The move is approaching incredibly quickly. Ten days left and counting... It's still odd to think that in less than two weeks, I'll be living almost 2,000 miles away from all of my friends and family, surrounded by 7 new roommates living in an old farmhouse, and studying scenic painting full time. Incredibly odd. But also incredibly exciting.
I'm very eager to find out who my roommates are going to be. The school hasn't sent us any information about the other students, so of course I've been trying various google searches to find articles or blogs like this one that might reveal their identities. So far no such luck. Looks like I may just have to meet them the old-fashioned way...face to face. Weird.
So in the mean time, I'm enjoying as much time as possible with friends and family.
I went camping with Julie and Marla this past week to enjoy the gorgeous scenery and peaceful surroundings. Julie and I hiked up the Holy Cross City trail in a failed attempt to see the old ghost town. A time crunch and the wearisome crunch in our knees turned us back early. But the hike itself was absolutely beautiful. Would go back in a heartbeat.
And last night Julie and Ryan organized an awesome going-away party for me. Many thanks everyone who helped out and made it such a special evening for me. It really meant a lot that so many would put so much effort into it all. The right words escape me...but I'm going to miss you guys like crazy!!!
